Fruit Salad Filipino Style

Fruit Salad Filipino Style
Ever since I was a little girl, this is a staple in any family parties, or every party  in the Philippines. My grandma would always make the best fruit salad, and if it is not sweet that would make your teeth hurt, then its not sweet at all.

Ingredients.
1 can of fruit cocktail in heavy syrup
1 small can of table cream
Half a cup of Nata de Coco or Coconut gelatin ( I just used up half of the jar)
1/4 cup condensed milk.

This is as close as I can get to a slice of home. Now this delicious feast is chillling in fridge, and I am dying to eat it lol
Whenever I eat this, I make sure to save every bit of nata de coco, and I will eat it last. Its just my habit. Save the best for last .

Alright, I know this is a random entry, not beauty related, but since filming the food tag, I felt like, this is a part of me, food is a part of me, and I would like to share it to the world.

First Impressions: MAC Quite Cute Mieralized blush in Miss Behave

As all of you know that MAC released a new collection last 4/7/11. I had been waiting for this collection since February. Temptalia had a review on her blog as well as her YT page, she recommended to skip out on the QUAD, why? Because it was not even worth the Money. It was not pigmented at all, and for a MAC e/s that is a big fail. All the other products, I was thinking that the nail polishes are very dupable with a lot of drugstore polishes out there with the fraction of the cost. Lipgloss(plush glass) I also skipped this, due to the fact that my lips does not need and "plumping" look. What intrigued me the most is the mineralized blush.
Out of the three, I picked out the peachy one which was in Miss Behave, the other two was a lavender color, and the other one was a cool tone pink.

These buttons came for free! So Cute! The name for this collection fits perfectly! MAC never does any freebies, not that I know of.

Until next time folks

xoxo

Favorite Nail Polish: Essie's Sand Tropez

I filmed a nail polish haul video a couple days ago that I have not edited yet, so sorry bout that. Anyways, I was hunting this shade down for weeks now and I finally got it!
Essie in Sand Tropez, Its my perfect nude(semi-matte) nail polish
I needed to stop wearing dark winter colors lol So I am sticking with Nude and Pastel Colors.
Essie Nail polishes are amazing, they are heavily pigmented, and just one coat covers up my whole entire nail.( I probably don't need a second coat.
I need a professional manicure soon, lol Im due for one

Overview: Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss

REVLON: Silky...Sexy...Brilliant. Glossy formula combines sheer color and intense moisture with light-reflecting spheres to create amazing shine. SPF 15

RSLL in Firecraker
Price: $6.99-$8.00 depending where you get it. I suggest a BOGO or BOGO 50% off.
WhereAlmost all drugstores carry revlon products, and also Wal-mart, K-Mart, and Target.
Packaging: It looks very similar to my YSL lipgloss including the doe foot applicator, and the slick glass tube type container.

First Impressions: Not to sticky... May have a scent, but I think it is normal, and it is not overwhelming. Staying power is pretty medium. It will not last all day, so do not expect that to happen.

When I first started investing on makeup, I made a decision after trying my first SLL(super lustrous lipgloss) I am going to stick with just revlon. So far I have not purchased any other than the SLL line.

For an everyday gloss, I think this is perfect because it is not heavily pigmented as others. It can be a hit or miss with these ones too. One can be more pigmented than the other.

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss

From the picture above lined them up accordingly to coordinate with the actual product on top.  Comparing them with one another, the content is not as true to the color from the packaging.
L-R: Firecracker, Pink Afterglow, Pink Pop, Pink Whisper, Life's a Peach, Nude Lustre, Lilac Pastelle

 Firecracker; Tube color:bright red
Swatch: Red with a lot of orange undertone.

Pink After glow; Tube color; Light Pink with tiny glitter
Swatch: Pale Pink with pink/silver glitter(tiny)

Pink Pop; Tube Color:Barbie Pink, Pink with blue undertone
Swatch: Stayed true to what the color is from the packaging

Pink Whisper; Tube Color: Peachy Pink
Swatch: Pale pink(semi-matte) very sheer, It might turn out as clear if used alone

Life's a Peach; Tube Color: Light Peach
Swatch: Light peach with a little shimmer

Nude Lustre; Tube Color: Nude Peach(a little brown undertone)
Swatch: Light Nude Peach, can be worn alone.

Lilac Pastelle; Tube Color: Lilac(name speaks for itself
Swatch Color: A very pastel lilac, very pigmented. Although on the lips, it comes of as
a  sheer/light purple with blue undertone (cool)

If you are looking for a Matte finish, or anywhere near that, I suggest to skip out on this Lip glosses. They are at least shimmery, and can even be glittery. Although, the glitter is not chunky. On the lips, it just gives it enough shine/shimmer.

Repurchase? Yes, I actually did on a couple of these bad boys already. My overall favorite is Nude lustre and Life's a peach. Even though these two have peachy colors, on my very pigmented lips, It gives a little hint of pink.

As I probably mentioned earlier on... These lipgloss are great for an everyday wear. One, because it is not too pricey. The quality is great, I think it is comparable to some of my mac lipglosses, but not enough with the pigmentation. Again, you are getting your money's worth with these glosses.

Recommendation? Yes, I sure will. Do not be scared with the bright colors because, most of the time, the color is not what it seems to be when it is on your lips compared to what it looks from the packaging.

It's almost 1 am, I can keep going and going about raving this product, one of the reasons too that I did not choose to film. It's because it will probably be at least a 15 minute video... and that is too long.

So, I am going to end this here, and dont forget to let me know what you think? yeah?

Thank you

Grace

Sleek Storm I-Divine Palette

According to their website
The Storm i-Divine palette comprises of 12 strong and rich shades perfect for accentuating the eyes and creating natural looks.

The velvet-touch consistency gives full and shimmering coverage to the eye lid for maximum effect. Each shade can be applied alone for a dramatic effect or mixed to create a personalised look.Best applied with the applicator enclosed.

On their website, the Palette costs $10. I didn't buy it on their website. Instead, I ordered it from Ebay. I bought 2 of the same palette. It made more sense to buy it on ebay. Why? Because I only added and       extra $4 and I got an extra palette. Good deal right?

First Impressions:
1. The Palette is smaller than what I thought it would be. I do like the fact that the palette came with a mirror.
2. The eyeshadows are Nickel-sized. So its a bit bigger than my coastal scents 88 eyeshadow palettes.
3. Very Pigmented, swatched the eye shadows twice, one with a primer and the second time without one.
4. Can get a bit chalky, after swatching the eyeshadows, there were a lot of loose shadows on the palette.
5. Staying power can be a bit medium. Meaning they can stay for a good amount of time.
6. Color choices in this palette is awesome! Because you can take this palette from day to night, and anywhere in between. They're all mostly earth tones. Most of them have a warmer undertone, and its not to cool or harsh for my skin tone.
7.Blended some of the shadows after swatching them, and they did stay put.
8.Fallout can be a problem. That is, because these are mineral eye shadows, so what do you expect.
9. A good mixture of matte, satin/frost finish. Nothing too metalic .

Top: No Primer, bottom: used Urban Decay Primer Potion

Top: No Primer, bottom: used Urban Decay Primer Potion
As usual, with any eye shadow with a primer underneath it, the eye shadows will look more vibrant. As you can see in the swatches, there is not a big difference with the lighter colors. As for the darker ones, you can tell, that a primer makes the eyeshadow pop more.

Repurchase: Yes, but just this palette. The other ones that they have on their website is not really my type of colors. I'd like something that I can actually wear, rather than let it gather dust. It's just a long wait to purchase this, why? Because it is not available here in the US, or not in any retail stores around me either. Buying it thru ebay only took 4 days. It came all the from UK, which is pretty good considering it was overseas. Its very inexpensive, but shipping can be a drag. Definitely worth a try without breaking the bank.

Failed at LENT and My Project 10 pan

When lent started, MY goal was to at least make it to 3- 4 weeks of not buying makeup. Week 3 I failed! It was a sale from Haute Look that got me. Palettes from Urban Decay were on sale. A couple days later, I found out that these palettes are also available on UD's website for the same price. (although the we're out-of-stock) So I sorta justified my purchase.... not really I still broke my promise. If you noticed, I haven't had any hauls on my YT, and that is the big reason behind it. I was running out of the usual supplies. I didnt stock up before I decided to give up buying makeup for lent.

I really think I went in this the wrong way. Not prepared, going cold turkey didn't help either. So it was kind of pointless.

So I decided that I should shop in my own collection, I found foundations that are almost a year old, but I barely used it ( for some reason). So now I have concluded that, instead of buying more and spend money. I am going to shop in my own collection.

This is where Project 10 pan comes in handy.

So what is project 10 pan? It means that I cannot purchase any cosmetic products(makeup) until I hit pan, or used on at least 10 items in my collection. (foundation, lipstick, powder, blush, mascara, liner...and all sorts of good stuff)

In the running.
1. MAC studio fix fluid in NC30
2. REVLON Colorstay foundation in sandy beige
3. MAC studio fix powder in NC 40
4. Maybeline Mineral Mouse conceler
5. Maybelline Dream matte powder (2)
6. MAC False Lashes Mascara

So far there is not a lot of stuff on my list, but these are the ones that are almost out, but I never actually used it all up. So instead of buying another powder, I have to use what I have. (NO SECRET HAULING EITHER!) So my purchase prior to this I guess doesn't count. Blushes and lipsticks is probably going to be harder, but I found some that I need to use up.

Sometimes, I we just need to look at our own collection and shop around.

So who's with me in my Project 10 pan?

A mom's wish

So I am blogging this through my phone, so the format might look or different.

Anyways, I finally made a mommy entry here after so long. As you can read in the title about my wish.
I wish that I can finally have a conversation with my almost 3 yr old. A lot of you guys don't know that she is a little behind verbally. She can comunicate with us in other ways like pointing, a little bit of sign language, and other words that she commonly uses.

I still wish that I can converse with her and she will actually understand what I mean.

In my current situation, it is not easy that I can just get up and go. Take her to a specialist and this will be over with. Long story behind this, and I think it's a little too personal, but hey, I might share it with you in the future.

I love the fact that she knows how to say goodbye, goodnight and I love you. She would mimic words that we say. She's very animated. Almost like a cartoon character brought to life.

I trully believe that she has this Einstein Syndrome, and that soon enough she wil be talking and won't ever shut up! :)

On my part, I think that I need to work on more things that I can help her with.

Mothers don't normally get to have a wish on their kid's birthday, but this time I do.

So for Etna's bday (4/11) my only wish is that I could understand her when she speaks, so I will know what she needs. I don't have to play charades anymore. I can be a better mom to her too.

Review: Maybelline Volume Express ONE BY ONE mascara

I was supposed to review this product on Camera, but my HD converter is messed up so, I'll just blog about it.

So I finally ran out of the 2 mascaras that I had been circulating since the end of last year.(it just got its 3 month expiration and some dried up)

Also earlier this year, Maybelline came out with the ONE by ONE mascara. I couldn't get it yet because I don't like stocking up on mascara, which I would eventually toss out because of its life-span.

As a little side note: I want to let you guys know that I love the "Falsies" also from Maybelline, and I didnt have any plan on replacing it until I read a lot of good (and bad) reviews with the ONE by ONE. Honestly, I had a little bit of a hard time with the Falsies too. I won't deny that it didn't clump on me because it did. I just had my tricks to make it work, and it did. There was just too much product on the brush it self that makes it clumpier when it gets on to your lashes. Overall, I still love the Falsies.

So onto my actual product review:

I would like to credit google images for the picture above.
Price: Ranges from $5-$7
-depending where you purchase it. I got mine at Walmart for $5.95 (but a couple weeks ago they had it on sale for $5 :p )

- The bristle is rounder, designed to actually get to your lashes individually and coat it. Which will give you the maximized volume as possible. In the picture above the brush is orange, because its the regular formula. I have a blue brush(waterproof)

-The packaging is similar to the other volume express mascara, except this one is bright tangerine-pink in color, and a bright blue turquoise blue rim.

The One by One is not as thick in consistency as the falsies, but not sheer either.
It is not as clumpy. It really does separate my lashes. I was trying to see if how far I can actually take this mascara to be very build-able or not, So far maybe medium. That's it. It only gives a very natural finish, but your lashes have more volume and length than having no mascara at all. So this mascara is great for an everyday use.

I got one in the waterproof formula. I would normally not pay attention if the mascara is waterproof or not, I will just pick the color and get on with my shopping. Because of this, whenever my allergies come (usually 15 minutes after I apply my makeup in the morning) I would sneeze, and the mascara would smudge under my eye! And I would literally curse at the wind for not getting a waterproof one!

So... I finally took my sweet time and looked for a waterproof one. The purpose of having a waterproof mascara, is that it helps keep the curl in your lashes longer compared to using a none waterproof one.

My lashes routine will be curling my lashes for the first time, apply 1 coat of mascara, curl it I wore it all day today, and I didn't get any smudging. Although I noticed a little bit of flaking. The flaking came about around 6 hours from the time I first applied the mascara. In my opinion it isn't really that bad, and no raccoon eye!

So overall, this mascara is not as amazing as the hype is making it to be. Although it can be a holy grail to anybody as well. As I mentioned, this can be a very nice everyday mascara, but don't expect it to give you a dramatic lashes because it won't.

I would definitely repurchase this mascara again. As always, we are always on a hunt for the "next best thing" out there.

Also, each individual's lashes are different, as our DNA's are. So this blog review is my 100% honest opinion, and please respect it, because I got a negative comment in my previous mascara that my review is not accurate as what the Mascara is intended for. Again, we are all different, different skin types and color, of course products will have different effects on different skin.

Mascaras on my "TO TRY LIST"
-Lancome Hypnose waterproof mascara
-L'oreal Voluminous Million Lashes Mascara
-Makeup Forever aqua smokey lash
- Maybelline Full and Soft mascara

I hope you enjoyed this review!!
XOXO,
Grace
