My First Photoshoot as a Makeup artist

I was fortunate enough to be invited to be the Makeup Artist for some Beauty shots for my Friend. He needed to see my work, and how well it shows on camera.
The concept for this shoot, is just natural beauty.
This was such a great experience, and probably something I would never forget.
My hobby is finally getting recognized the way it should

WDGG: Anime Convention ACEN 2011

WDGG stands for WHERE DID GRACE GO? I will hence use this as a shorty cut name to my little escapades.
This past weekend was just too hectic. The Biggest Anime Convention in the Midwest happened last May 20-22. It was 3 days of just ANIME! I had an opportunity to go on a Saturday, because I heard among the 3 days, the second one is the best to go.

My Fiance and I said that we were going there at 7 am, get there by 8 and get in line to buy our badges. Typical of us, we never leave on time, we left at 7:45 got there at almost 9 am. The line was already half a mile long. I'm not even exaggerating. When we got inside the building, there was another line. It took us probably close to 45 minutes waiting there again. It would have been faster if I brought cash with me.
I'm taking notes for my next visit =)

Everyone was almost cosplaying, I would have but I didn't know that the convention was that weekend, until 2 days before. So I will do it next year!

While in line, I already spotted The 4th Doctor Who! I was going gaga over this hahaha
Because when you yell "Hey Doctor!" This guy would actually turn to you and talk to you. Same thing with other Cosplayers. They were all in character it was amazing.

My Fiance and I met up with some friends, and also bumped into some. The whole time, I felt like we were just trolling the Market(where they sell anime merchandise). We kept looking for a hotter version of some anime characters we like. It was a fun-filled day.

HERE ARE SOME OF THE PICTURES

The soap bubble, which was this huge party in one of the Hotel's Ballroom was just a waste of time, it took me two turns in line to get in, it was ridiculous. The only good thing that probably happened in the bubble was the Pre-Party we had at the hotel room of our friend. Was buzzing a little bit when we got to the bubble, it just all went away when you start smelling 2 day old no shower people.

I can't wait for next year. Also I will cosplay this time around!

First Swap Ever with ThePopHeir

Here is my thoughts about my recent swap with the PopHeir, or as I call him KD. I was at first a bit skeptical, because I was not sure about the safety.Because I was talking to some stranger and gave him my address so he can send me makeup. I trusted the guy, and he did the same way.

Because we trusted each other so much, we both were happy that our swaps was a success.
I would love to get to do this again with you! I am also happy to know that you liked the stuff I sent ya!

NYX $1.20 SALE DRAMA!

NYX was having a huge 12 hour sale starting today at 12pm PST and ends exactly 12 hours later. The sale started at 2pm Central time.

NYX is celebrating 12 years of being in business.

This sale was amazing. Almost everything was only $1.20 and there is a limit of two shades per item.
Example: You can get 2 Jumbo eyeshadow pencil in milk, and you can get 2 more Jumbo eyeshadow pencil of a different shade.

Also this sale was limited only to US, continental. They didn't even include CANADA which was weird.

Nobody was able to log in onto our NYX accounts because the site was down. Minutes before the sale started. I was still able to log in and look around. So i turned to the official Facebook Page and Twitter to get some updates from NYX and some from customers.

Everyone just bombarded the NYX FB wall. Cursing, Boycotting, and basically hating on NYX.
Nyx did say that they were having difficulties, and we understand. Everyone's question was why NYX did not anticipate the traffic that the website got today. Because of the huge amount of people trying to get on there. IT CRASHED!

3 hours later....
The announced that they are online and ready. I still got a SERVICE UNAVAILABLE page. I kept refreshing my tabs, and i finally got it. It probably took me at least half refreshing each tab. After all that, I finally was able to submit and purchase and order.

So I immediately turned to facebook and let the others know that I got it. I was called a liar, and a nyx employee faking a purchase. They asked for proof, and I gave it to them. It is up on NYX's FB Page.

I still can't get over the fact that, people are so rude! I only went on facebook to let the others that are waiting, that there was hope. Our patience paid off, but in return I was called a LIAR. How cruel can yo be?

I gave them a screenshot of the Order confirmation to shut their pie holes up. At least there we're few good people who were happy about my order.

Note to myself, If there is any sale like this ever, I wont announce it to the world that I made it through and made my order.

Don't worry I will post an entry/ video haul of my purchases once they arrive.
They did extended the sale til tomorrow noon PST. So please visit their FB page or Twitter for updates. The website is still down at times, but if you are patient like me, you might get lucky.

IM ENGAGED!

So after going out/seeing/dating each other for almost 5 years, I am officially engaged.  Our engagement is probably not as typical as others where guy kneeling on one knee, hands the girl a blue box and asks her had. Mine kind of started out differently.

It was one of our usual evenings where we watch tv, have dinner and just chill out.

I was not really in my best mood that night, some how in the middle of our conversation, my dear beloved boy friend takes my hand and asked me to marry him.  The first thing that came out of my mind was “are you serious?” He said “YES”. I started crying and I kept saying “YES! YES!”

The unconventional situation is that, he did not have a ring, and I still said yes.
To me a ring is just a material thing that symbolizes your current status. As long as he asked me, that’s all that mattered. We even talked about getting married at a the courthouse just to get it over with. (this was before the engagement) I had the opportunity to pick out the ring and of course the size was right. When it arrived, he placed it on my finger. IT WAS PERFECTION! Not too big and not too small. Again, it was PERFECT!
We told ourselves that two years would be a good timing, but we are really taking our time planning this wedding. We started with our entrance song, and a first dance. My first dance song choice is You by Kazami which is from the anime Samurai Champloo.

Here’s a little sample of the chorus:
I feel beautiful when I'm around you
I'm safe and comfortable
'cause you are wonderful
it feels natural to be around you
you've made it possible
you're wonderful

I just think its perfect, because He did tell me that whenever he says this song is playing, it always reminds him of me. Oh well two years is still far ahead, but I’m scared that it may come around too quick!

Thank you for all the greetings!!

xoxo,
Grace

Fruit Salad Filipino Style

Fruit Salad Filipino Style
Ever since I was a little girl, this is a staple in any family parties, or every party  in the Philippines. My grandma would always make the best fruit salad, and if it is not sweet that would make your teeth hurt, then its not sweet at all.

Ingredients.
1 can of fruit cocktail in heavy syrup
1 small can of table cream
Half a cup of Nata de Coco or Coconut gelatin ( I just used up half of the jar)
1/4 cup condensed milk.

This is as close as I can get to a slice of home. Now this delicious feast is chillling in fridge, and I am dying to eat it lol
Whenever I eat this, I make sure to save every bit of nata de coco, and I will eat it last. Its just my habit. Save the best for last .

Alright, I know this is a random entry, not beauty related, but since filming the food tag, I felt like, this is a part of me, food is a part of me, and I would like to share it to the world.

First Impressions: MAC Quite Cute Mieralized blush in Miss Behave

As all of you know that MAC released a new collection last 4/7/11. I had been waiting for this collection since February. Temptalia had a review on her blog as well as her YT page, she recommended to skip out on the QUAD, why? Because it was not even worth the Money. It was not pigmented at all, and for a MAC e/s that is a big fail. All the other products, I was thinking that the nail polishes are very dupable with a lot of drugstore polishes out there with the fraction of the cost. Lipgloss(plush glass) I also skipped this, due to the fact that my lips does not need and "plumping" look. What intrigued me the most is the mineralized blush.
Out of the three, I picked out the peachy one which was in Miss Behave, the other two was a lavender color, and the other one was a cool tone pink.

These buttons came for free! So Cute! The name for this collection fits perfectly! MAC never does any freebies, not that I know of.

Until next time folks

Favorite Nail Polish: Essie's Sand Tropez

I filmed a nail polish haul video a couple days ago that I have not edited yet, so sorry bout that. Anyways, I was hunting this shade down for weeks now and I finally got it!
Essie in Sand Tropez, Its my perfect nude(semi-matte) nail polish
I needed to stop wearing dark winter colors lol So I am sticking with Nude and Pastel Colors.
Essie Nail polishes are amazing, they are heavily pigmented, and just one coat covers up my whole entire nail.( I probably don't need a second coat.
I need a professional manicure soon, lol Im due for one

Overview: Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss

REVLON: Silky...Sexy...Brilliant. Glossy formula combines sheer color and intense moisture with light-reflecting spheres to create amazing shine. SPF 15

RSLL in Firecraker
Price: $6.99-$8.00 depending where you get it. I suggest a BOGO or BOGO 50% off.
WhereAlmost all drugstores carry revlon products, and also Wal-mart, K-Mart, and Target.
Packaging: It looks very similar to my YSL lipgloss including the doe foot applicator, and the slick glass tube type container.

First Impressions: Not to sticky... May have a scent, but I think it is normal, and it is not overwhelming. Staying power is pretty medium. It will not last all day, so do not expect that to happen.

When I first started investing on makeup, I made a decision after trying my first SLL(super lustrous lipgloss) I am going to stick with just revlon. So far I have not purchased any other than the SLL line.

For an everyday gloss, I think this is perfect because it is not heavily pigmented as others. It can be a hit or miss with these ones too. One can be more pigmented than the other.

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss

From the picture above lined them up accordingly to coordinate with the actual product on top.  Comparing them with one another, the content is not as true to the color from the packaging.
L-R: Firecracker, Pink Afterglow, Pink Pop, Pink Whisper, Life's a Peach, Nude Lustre, Lilac Pastelle

 Firecracker; Tube color:bright red
Swatch: Red with a lot of orange undertone.

Pink After glow; Tube color; Light Pink with tiny glitter
Swatch: Pale Pink with pink/silver glitter(tiny)

Pink Pop; Tube Color:Barbie Pink, Pink with blue undertone
Swatch: Stayed true to what the color is from the packaging

Pink Whisper; Tube Color: Peachy Pink
Swatch: Pale pink(semi-matte) very sheer, It might turn out as clear if used alone

Life's a Peach; Tube Color: Light Peach
Swatch: Light peach with a little shimmer

Nude Lustre; Tube Color: Nude Peach(a little brown undertone)
Swatch: Light Nude Peach, can be worn alone.

Lilac Pastelle; Tube Color: Lilac(name speaks for itself
Swatch Color: A very pastel lilac, very pigmented. Although on the lips, it comes of as
a  sheer/light purple with blue undertone (cool)

If you are looking for a Matte finish, or anywhere near that, I suggest to skip out on this Lip glosses. They are at least shimmery, and can even be glittery. Although, the glitter is not chunky. On the lips, it just gives it enough shine/shimmer.

Repurchase? Yes, I actually did on a couple of these bad boys already. My overall favorite is Nude lustre and Life's a peach. Even though these two have peachy colors, on my very pigmented lips, It gives a little hint of pink.

As I probably mentioned earlier on... These lipgloss are great for an everyday wear. One, because it is not too pricey. The quality is great, I think it is comparable to some of my mac lipglosses, but not enough with the pigmentation. Again, you are getting your money's worth with these glosses.

Recommendation? Yes, I sure will. Do not be scared with the bright colors because, most of the time, the color is not what it seems to be when it is on your lips compared to what it looks from the packaging.

It's almost 1 am, I can keep going and going about raving this product, one of the reasons too that I did not choose to film. It's because it will probably be at least a 15 minute video... and that is too long.

So, I am going to end this here, and dont forget to let me know what you think? yeah?

Thank you

Grace

Sleek Storm I-Divine Palette

According to their website
The Storm i-Divine palette comprises of 12 strong and rich shades perfect for accentuating the eyes and creating natural looks.

The velvet-touch consistency gives full and shimmering coverage to the eye lid for maximum effect. Each shade can be applied alone for a dramatic effect or mixed to create a personalised look.Best applied with the applicator enclosed.

On their website, the Palette costs $10. I didn't buy it on their website. Instead, I ordered it from Ebay. I bought 2 of the same palette. It made more sense to buy it on ebay. Why? Because I only added and       extra $4 and I got an extra palette. Good deal right?

First Impressions:
1. The Palette is smaller than what I thought it would be. I do like the fact that the palette came with a mirror.
2. The eyeshadows are Nickel-sized. So its a bit bigger than my coastal scents 88 eyeshadow palettes.
3. Very Pigmented, swatched the eye shadows twice, one with a primer and the second time without one.
4. Can get a bit chalky, after swatching the eyeshadows, there were a lot of loose shadows on the palette.
5. Staying power can be a bit medium. Meaning they can stay for a good amount of time.
6. Color choices in this palette is awesome! Because you can take this palette from day to night, and anywhere in between. They're all mostly earth tones. Most of them have a warmer undertone, and its not to cool or harsh for my skin tone.
7.Blended some of the shadows after swatching them, and they did stay put.
8.Fallout can be a problem. That is, because these are mineral eye shadows, so what do you expect.
9. A good mixture of matte, satin/frost finish. Nothing too metalic .

Top: No Primer, bottom: used Urban Decay Primer Potion

Top: No Primer, bottom: used Urban Decay Primer Potion
As usual, with any eye shadow with a primer underneath it, the eye shadows will look more vibrant. As you can see in the swatches, there is not a big difference with the lighter colors. As for the darker ones, you can tell, that a primer makes the eyeshadow pop more.

Repurchase: Yes, but just this palette. The other ones that they have on their website is not really my type of colors. I'd like something that I can actually wear, rather than let it gather dust. It's just a long wait to purchase this, why? Because it is not available here in the US, or not in any retail stores around me either. Buying it thru ebay only took 4 days. It came all the from UK, which is pretty good considering it was overseas. Its very inexpensive, but shipping can be a drag. Definitely worth a try without breaking the bank.
